84th Tablescape - Table for Two!

A wonderful surprise this week - my wonderful husband is working from home!  So in honor of having him home for 3 meals a day as opposed to the usual 3 days of the week.  I set a romantic table for two using these beautiful plates made in Italy.

Ran the runner across the middle

Choose green to be the complimenting color for this white set.

You can't help but fall in love with these plates.  They are San Marco, made in Italy.  I found 8 pieces (only) at St. Vincent DePaul's thrift store, they were marked $10 - I negotiated them down to $3 for the set of 8.

The plates are square, and the bowls are oval with one large side - almost like a handle.

The raised grapes, vines and leaves are sutle with dramatic detail.

The makers marks are engraved in the bottom - not stamped.

I used one of the square bowls for the center piece, you can see the handle like detail of the sides.

Always try to place a feature plate or platter that ties in with the tablescape - thought this Fitz & Floyd - Winter Garden plate was appropriate for the season - and the reason!

People always ask me "do you actually use your dishes, sit at the set table?"  We absolutely do - there is not a piece of china, silver, glassware or stemware that has not been used and reused in our home.  Firm believer in "use your good dishes - wear your red dress".......

So dinner tonight is:  Ginger/Soy shrimp, steamed asparagus, sliced potatoes sauteed with red onions and salad.  Dinner was delicious!

83rd Tablescape - Ladies Luncheon - Bake Day

Our ladies group decided to get together for a "bake day".  For the ladies I did a formal tablescape!
This set of china is "made in America" beautiful.  White with black, gold and silver outline - makes it easy to match items with and change accesories....

This angel candle was perfect for the center piece - these ladies are my angels!

Buffetscape
We all brought our favorite or "want to try" cookie recipe,&  ingredients.  The preparations began...... What a great time we had!
Left top:  Sue; Left bottom:  Joni; Right top:  Brenda; Right bottom:  Brittany!

Joni's almond "something"????

Sue's iced pumpkin cookies - one of my favorite....

Snowballs - one batch with walnuts - my contribution; one batch with almonds - thanks Joni.

82nd Tablescape - Last Fall Tablescape

This set is one of the first settings I purchased to do tablescapes - purchased and placed on table for the first time exactly 3 years ago - some of the occupanying pieces have changed, the plates are still a showcase set.

These pheasant candlesticks I found at Goodwill for $4...

Found this conicopia at Salavation Army for $2 - painted it black.

My little white orchid is in bloom so I had to show it off....

The two matching bronze candle holders are from Salvation Army - got the pair for $5 - one of my better buys.

This pic shows the candlestick off better....
