Our Garden.....

It all begins with a composte pile..

Decided that it was time to start a garden.  We love fresh greens, salads and the makings, have plenty of ground to have a nice garden at the rear of our property.    Garden Goals:  To provide fresh greens, and save money!  Here is the begininngs of the set-up!
We used my grandmothers old picnic bench that my father had given me in hopes that we could repair it, unfortunately the metal was too far rusted/corroded to be able to reconstruct.  So my husband took it apart and we used the planks to outline our garden.
Since one of our goals to garden was to save money, we found a source for "free" manure, so we went and picked up a trailer load....
My husband not only loaded the trailer but he also unloaded it too!
The white PVC pipe pieces were from our terrace project that we had to cap off some sprinklers.  The black chicken wire/mesh from yet another project!
 Finished Step 2!

This piece of slag (washed out concrete) from the construction of our home has been sitting here so long that the little trees have grown into this stone and we can't move it....so
I painted it and stenciled "Our Garden" on to the surface.....Both the black and white spray paint were leftovers from other project, so we are still at zero dollar start up for the garden....

64TH Tablescape - Blue Orchid -

Received these beautiful blue orchids from my husband for easter - so the next tablescape had to center around them.

The plates are Folkart - not a fancy brand are rare find - but they were so pretty.  20 pieces from Key Training Thrift store - $5.
The silverware is a stainless steel set - love the long dinner fork...found them at hospice 50 pieces $8.
These glasses are very heavy and have embedded leaves on them -
These candel holders remind me of tulips...

Found this large serving platter a few years ago - I comes in handy when we serve large groups (which we do quite often).  The colors were perfect for this table - so I set it at one end.

63rd Tablescape - White Rose...

From black leather and chrome last week to White Lace and White Roses....I just love tablescaping....

I picked up these three linen table runners thinking it was just one til I pulled them out of the wash and there were four of them....Giving one to my sister, Dawn for her to use on one of her tablescapes.
The runners were so simple I decided to just keep everything white...
 Lite the candles and viola.....
The ceramic chargers are Homer Laughlin, the plates are Johnson Bros. ironstone and the bowls are Pflatzgraff...

Used one table runner on across as placemats and one down the center, love the criss cross look.
The white roses are clip on clipped to a white bow napkin ring.

62nd Tablescape - VROOOOMMMM VROOOOM

My husband and I sponsor a motorcycle group through our Church.  We meet after second service at Christian Church of the Wildwood in Weeki Wachee.  Ride out stop for lunch then ride for 40 miles stop, rest, fellowship then head back.  Everyone is invited back to our house for dinner!  Sometimes we have as many as 25 sometimes only a few!  But everytime is a great time!  This week I wanted to do a special tablescape just for our group.  They always enjoy my tablescapes and I am hoping that they will really enjoy this one - hope you do too!

Never thought I would set a table with boots?
 Or wrenches....
Or a motorcycle's engine guard would sertve as my centerpiece....
Thanks to my husbands help and donation of parts and tools the table was a great hit!
We had a wonderful ride to Webster then Floral City then back to our house for dinner; we had 12 bikes on the ride - 15 riders and 18 for dinner!

My youngest son, Tuna and his girlfriend, Taylor, drove up and joined us for dinner - what a blessing to have such great family, friends and fellowship!

Isn't it springtime wonderful?  Everything new, blooming and green, brought some of that spring feeling back again this week with blue & green!

The Mikasa Spring Court Blue, design by Laurie Gates is from Goodwill - 17 pieces for $18.
The silverware 66 piece set in the wooden box from, a garage sale $5....One of my most treasured pieces!

These little blue glasses with the green ball bottoms were from PAWS as well 5/$1...
