50th Birthday - Antique Rocking Chair Project

Found this Mission still rocking chair at a Yard Sale; paid $5 for it as you see it below....

My thoughts for this project were to restore it to it's "aged" beauty and to do it at minimal cost.  First what to use for the seat cushion?
Found this pillow at Hospice Thrift Store - it was the perfect fit......$2.00
Wanted to recover it with material that would keep it's antique theme...so I found this valance at the local Goodwill - $1.07.
I stapled the pillow as it was to the seat frame...
Then stapled the cut to fit valance to make the upholstered finished seat....
This finished rocker was exactly the look I was after - this chair will now preside in our "red" room....Total cost $10.87 (had to purchase screws to screw the upholstered platform to the rocker frame $2.80)...
I really enjoyed this little project - I thought of it as my 50 year old rocker - for my 50th Birthday!...Which is today!.....

As always - thanks to Susan at BNOTP for sponsoring Metamorphosis Monday. Remember: "Around the world - - life is best around the table". Thanks for visiting; please leave some encouraging words!
