Black & Gold tablescape

As we are still experience "untypically cold" weather here in Florida - I am so ready for spring, sunshine and warmth. The black & gold came to me as I am thinking cold - but wanting warmth..
The dinnerware is a "Home Trends" edition, pick it up at a thrift store for $3 for the 2 piece, 4 settings. Placed on a black placemat with a lacey napkin folded at an angle to break up the black and bring out the strands of gold on the plate.

The pillar candle holders were a win from a giveaway from fellow blogger "Starting Over" - I placed black pillar candles on them (In the pics they look blue).

Placed a sprig of yellow daisy and a candle wrapped with a black napkin in the apothecary jar - and danced a gold ribbon around.
The silverware was another great find - Wm Rogers 1941 silver, "Gardenia" pattern. I purchased off Craig's List - 66pcs in original silverware box $20.
This was a fun tablescape but I am looking forward to warmer weather - once "spring is in the air" then I can bring it in and put it on the table.

Valentines Barscape

Valentine's decorations everywhere - the tablescape and the barscape.

Very simple - red and white square cloth placemat - $.25 ea; Red charge $1.50; red & white cloth napkins - 4 for $1; "I'm Yours" plaque - $.25; the white plates with basket weave trimmed edges were a find of my friend Stacey cleaning out her cupboards - "priceless"; wrapped some red ribbon around the candle holders.

Simple - red & white! Happy Valentine's Day!

Rose ring candle holder with large jar stuffed with a ribbon of color and red jar candle

Small apothecary jars filled with sweethearts - I turned the lids upside down and placed taper candles in them. The "I Love you Plates were purchased last year on clearance - $2 each.

Am really loving all the great finds of "vintage" items at thrift stores - they are very pretty. Single Rose plates - 4 pc place setting for 4 along w/serving bowl - Craig's Lst - $15...

Storing Coffe filters

If your coffee machine requires the cone type filters here is a way to keep them stacked, organized and easy to retrieve.

I was sick of having them scattered in the cupboard - this works really well!


Just a handy idea for storing cone type coffe filters.

For those of you that use the other type of filters - a bowl works really well! Just set them in there and pull them out one at a time.
